Christian Wegscheider
Christian (* 1965) began his career as a self taught organist on his father's home organ. But soon, he got lessons on the piano at the Musikschule in Innsbruck. Christian had his first contact with jazz at age 14 when he got a jazz album as a birthday present.

This led him to his studies of jazz piano at the Kunstuniversität in Graz from 1987 till 1993. At the end, he received a nation's scholarship for jazz. Since that time, he works as freelance musician, and jazz educator. Cooperations with well known artists such as Willi Resetarits, Udo Jürgens, and Pepe Lienhard among others follow, as well as recordings as leader and sideman. Christian toured Austria, Europe, USA, and China, and performed at big festivals, but also at small clubs.

Working as a composer tops his career off. He provided compositions for the Symphonieorchester Luzern (2015), Tiroler Symphonieorchester (2013, 2016), Mittelsächsische Philharmonie, Jazzorchester Tirol.

Christian feels obliged to pass his experiences on to young musicians. He is a tutor for jazz piano at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Also, he takes actively part as a lecturer in advanced training courses and youth workshops. In 2012, his educational book "JazzClub" was honoured "Best Edition" by the German musical publishers.
