Jens began playing the church organ at the age of 15 and tried swing on
the organ. The traditional training in organ playing did not provide or encourage
the rhythmical satisfaction of swing. After taking a diploma in harpsichord at
The Academy of Music in Aarhus and being employed as an organist, opportunity came
to rediscover and develop swing music in church. To surprise and satisfaction for
the church goers the organ now sounded joyful as never before, causing spontaneous
applause. Attending concerts in Germany with Barbara Dennerlein furthermore confirmed
the good reason for playing swing and being creative.
Recently Jens released a composition called "Waltz for Barbara", dedicated to Barbara Dennerlein. The scores are presented here. |
