Henrik Sørensen
Henrik is pianist, organist and composer. He studied as a classical pianist at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music and The Royal Danish Music Academy from 1981 to 1987 with teachers Arthur Feldthusen, Anker Blyme, José Ribera, Ole Kock Hansen, Thad Jones, Dan-Oluf Stenlund, Morten Schuldt-Jensen and Frans Rasmussen. In 1990, he wrote the book "The Jazz Piano School".
 
1991 through 2015, Henrik was the pianist and organist in the Tivoli Big Band. Throughout these years, the Tivoli Big Band has played with soloists such as Georgie Fame, Art Garfunkel, Roger Whittaker, Gary Brooker, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Rick Astley, Cæcilie Norby, Nils Landgren.
 
Henrik is also a church organist; he worked in the church of Ørsted, Vedtofte and Søllested on the island of Fyn, Denmark.
 
From 1996 till 2002, he was the pianist and leader of Ensemble NEW, a state-financed regional jazzensemble. This group has played and recorded with James Moody, Billy Cobham, Tom Harrell, Billy Hart, Marie Bergman, Allan Botschinsky, Jens Winther, Morten Grønvad and many others. Henrik has worked as composer for the Esbjerg Ensemble, the Jutland Ensemble, the Danish Chamber Players, Randers Chamber Orchestra, Athelas Symfonietta Copenhagen, the Danish Radio Concert Orchestra, South Jutland Symphony Orchestra, Tivoli Big Band and Ensemble NEW. In 2016, Henrik formed the NEW organ trio, for which he plays the Hammond.
