Ulrik Spang-Hanssen
Ulrik (* in København) graduated from Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium in Århus with cathedral organist Anders Riber. He graduated as an organist from here with top marks in 1978 and debuted from the conservatory's soloist class with excellent reviews in 1981. He has also studied with Gaston Litaize in Paris and with Jacques van Oordmerssen in Amsterdam.

Ulrik has played countless concerts throughout Europe and in the USA, both as a soloist and accompanist, and he has recorded more than 35 CDs in his own name. He has appeared in radio and television broadcasts in 20 countries and is currently heavily involved in romantic performance practices.

Ulrik became organist at Vor Frue Kirke in Assens on Funen in 1983 and combined this position with teaching positions at the conservatories in Odense and Århus, until a few years ago he chose to concentrate on teaching and soloist work in the form of a professorship at Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium. He has given several master's courses abroad in many of Europe's capitals and at several important universities in the United States.

In addition to his activities as a classical organist, Ulrik is also a well-known and very active jazz musician, in recent years mainly as a Hammond organist, in which capacity he has played with several leading musicians in the field and recorded several CDs. Furthermore, Ulrik founded the Ulrik Spang-Hanssen Trio with Ulrik at the piano.
