Florian Ross Florian Ross, born 1972, studied piano and composition in Cologne, London and New York with John Taylor, Don Friedman, Bill Dobbins, Joachim Ullrich, Ron Sadoff and Jim McNeely.   He released his first album as a leader in 1998 on Naxos-Jazz "Florian Ross Quintet - Seasons & Places" followed by the "Suite for Soprano Sax & String Orchestra"and "Florian Ross Brass Project - Lilacs and Laughter" in 2000. In early 2004 his Trio CD Blinds & Shades was released by the Intuition Label.   He played and worked with Vince Mendoza, Bob Brookmeyer, Bamberg Symphonic Big Band, Peter Bolte, Tommy Smith, Scottisch National Jazz Orchestra, Jeff Cascaro, Jim McNeely, Dave Liebman, Don Friedman, Kenny Wheeler, Ron Mclure, Joe Lovano, Eric Vloeimans, Nils Wogram, John Hollenbeck, Bill Dobbins, Paul Heller, Michael Buckley and Ronan Guilfoyle.   Amongst many international prizes for his piano playing and writing he received the 1st prize of the Thad Jones Competiton of the Danish Radio Big Band of 2000. Ross wrote music for the Metropole Orchestra, the Vancouver Jazz Orchestra, the BMI Jazz Orchestra, Joe Lovano and the Irish Radio Symphony, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, the NDR, WDR, HR and SWR.   In 2004, Florian started performing on the Hammond organ. His first project at the Hammond sees him in a cooperation with German trombone player Niels Wogram.
