Bernd Wurzenrainer
Bernd - good friends call him "Burnie" due to his burning organ playing - was born in 1966.
Already as child, he was deeply interested in music. At the age 7, he started his first
lessons with a teacher for (pipe) organ. Very early, he focused his ambitions on the
theatre organ with its imposing sound.
Later, from 1982, Bernd jobbed for musical instrument shops, demonstrating their electronic organs. That led also to performings at parties in hotels etc. As the function of electronic organs fascinated him, Bernd also studied the electronics. This education and his great sense for music predetermined his further professional life: He started as a demonstrator for electronic musical instruments with a famous Japanese company. Bernd's love for the theatre organ is still alive. From time to time, he performs at the famous Welte Funk organ (NDR Hamburg) as well as at the Wurlitzer Theatre organ in the Musikinstrumenten-Museum in Berlin. Since 1995, Bernd has discovered his love for jazz. He learnt, that jazz is made best on a Hammond organ rather than on a theatre organ. In 1996, he founded his first jazz organ trio, which was later the "Organology Quartet". This quartet performed successfully at the Burghausener Jazztage, in 1997. Since these days, Bernd "Burnie" likes to play jazz of all styles. He is a master of imitation: Whether Jimmy Smith, Milt Buckner, Jackie Davis or any other jazz organ style, you will quickly recognize whose soup is cooking on Bernd's burning organ. |
