picture of Wojciech Karolak
Wojciech Karolak
Wojciech (* 1939) started playing the piano as a child and got lessons at the Chopin Konserwatorium. Later, he studied at the Konserwatorium in Kraków. Since 1958, he played the sax as a member of the Matuszkiewicz Quintet and the Jan Wróblewski band.

Since 1961, Wojciech concentrated more and more on the keyboard instruments piano and organ. 1962, he founded his own trio. From 1966 to 1972, Wojciech lived in Sweden, where he came in touch with Putte Wickman and Leroy Lowe. In 1973, he returned to Poland to work together with Zbigniew Namysłowski. In the following year, he toured the USA together with Michał Urbaniak and Urszula Dudziak. Further cooperations with Jan Wróblewski, Tomasz Szukalski, Czesław Bartkowski, Jarosław Śmietana, Piotr Baron, Zbigniew Lewandowski, and Leszek Cichoński followed.

Wojciech also worked for film productions and radio stations. He died in June 2021.
