Gary Burton
Gary (*1943) taught himself to play vibes. At the early age of 17, he made his first recordings with guitarist Hank Garland. Further studies led him to Berklee. Stations of his career then were George Shearing's quintet and Stan Getz's quartet. In 1967, Gary founded his own quartet with Steve Swallow, Larry Coryell and Bob Moses.

The next decade saw Burton playing with small ensembles, consisting of the best jazz players, mostly guitarists. He toured all over the world and had great success. In 1971, Gary became a member of the faculty at Berklee.

Besides the vibes, Gary's favourite instrument, he plays occasionally marimba and organ.
