Harold 'Ivory' Williams jr.
Harold (* 1949 in Baltimore) played piano, organ and synthesizer; he was regarded
as a gospel, R&B, and fusion musician. Harold was the son of the preacher Bishop
Harold I. Williams and played the piano at the age of three. He began his music career
as a church organist, performing in his hometown and on the east coast of the United
States. The first recordings were made with the gospel musician James Cleveland and
his Gospel Music Workshop of America.
He became known primarily from the late 1960s through his collaboration with jazz and fusion musicians such as Miles Davis, on whose albums Big Fun and On the Corner he participated in 1972/73, and with Urszula Dudziak (Urszula, 1976), Dave Liebman (Tranquility of the Protective Aura, 1977), the studio band MFSB, George Duke, Michał Urbaniak (Body English, Smiles Ahead 1977). He also took part in Dudziak's disco hit Papaya (1975). In 1976 he also gave concerts with Dudziak and Urbaniak in Germany. In later years he worked again as a church musician. Harold died in 2010. from Wikipedia |
