picture of Kjeld Lauritsen Kjeld tells his story
how he came to the organ:

Dear Hammond organ fans and organ players,
I have been selected jazz organ player of the month and I am very honoured about this, since there are so many great players worldwide.

When I started out playing the Hammond Organ many years ago a lot of people asked me why I didn't go for synthesizers. But there was never any doubt in my mind. The sound of the Hammond is unique and will never die, and the rising popularity of the instrument proves it. The soul and groove of the instrument is needed now more than ever.

The mix between jazz and blues is for me essential to good music making. Over the years I have written a lot of tunes in this mix, and apart from my own recordings, the tunes have been covered by other musicians. Check out my tunes and playing on the sound clip.

I am the happy leader of two great groups, The Organizers and Kjeld Lauritsen Hammond Organ Jazz. I am very fortunate to work with saxophonist Bob Rockwell, guitarist Per Gade and drummer Esben Bach among many others.

Please take a few minutes to listen to my little sound clip, check my website www.kjeldlauritsen.dk or send me a mail at the.organizers@get2net.dk.

Thanks to the International Archives for the Jazz Organ for selecting me, and for supporting an art form out of the ordinary!!!
Love and Peace from Copenhagen, Denmark.
